This four-weekend workshop equips lens-based artists with the tools to confidently apply for grants, fellowships, and open calls. Participants are encouraged to bring an ongoing or completed body of work. Through a mix of lectures, writing prompts, and peer review, participants will learn to develop clear, compelling professional materials—including artist and project statements, bios, CVs, and portfolios.
Alongside writing, the course introduces strategies for researching and identifying opportunities that align with your practice. Each participant will select one grant or open call to focus on from a pool of current, seasonally-recurring open calls and learn to navigate and track upcoming ones. By the final session will submit a completed application with guidance and feedback.
By the end of the workshop, artists will leave with polished application materials, practical tools for sustaining a writing practice for their visual work, and a deeper understanding of how to position their work in the broader arts landscape, sustainably.
